Korea navy deploying with counter-piracy operation off
Somalia |
 |
 |
 |
OFF SOMALIA -- The Republic of Korea warship,
ROKS Dae Jo Young, has recently been deployed with
EU NAVFOR Operation Atalanta off the coast of Somalia.
The invaluable co-operation between Republic of Korea
and European Union warships is helping to strengthen
maritime security to keep seafarers safe as they transit
the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden. ROKS Dae Jo Young is
a Sun-sin class destroyer and was launched in November
2003. Equipped with the latest military and surveillance
technology, she is perfectly suited to counter-piracy
operations. During the last week ROKS Dae Jo Young and
EU NAVFOR warships cooperated at sea to integrate
communications systems and carry out combined operations
at sea. This is the third time that Republic of Korea
and the European Union Naval Force ships have worked
together this year.

currently generate at least $10 million dollars per
annum of income for the Somalia militants. CMF has
enjoyed some success during recent months by sharing
information with port authorities in the importing
nations, to provide the opportunity for those nations to
then seize and sell these illegal cargoes, retaining the
sales proceeds for their own national use.

UN aircraft hits house in Juba flies onto Entebbe forced

Amazing survivor. Rough. Tough. Sturdy and strong. The
Ilyushin Il-76 is a multi-purpose four-engine turbofan
strategic airlifter. It was designed to deliver heavy
machinery to remote, poorly served areas. The Il-76 has
seen extensive service as a commercial freighter for
ramp-delivered cargo, especially for outsized or heavy
items unable to be otherwise carried. It has also been
used as an emergency response transport for civilian
evacuations as well as for humanitarian aid and disaster
relief around the world. Because of its ability to
operate from unpaved runways, it has been useful in
undeveloped areas.
