Green Eagles FC suffered a major set-back when
they failed to win the annual Unga ni Tifa
Super Cup after being beaten 5-0 by National
Superleague team, Modern Coast FC during the
final clash played at Mombasa Sports Club.
David Orem netted twice for the winners in the
23rd and 40th minutes,
Francis Omondi in the sixth minute, Rashid
Athman in the 61st minute and
Abdalla Mdeka in the 70th minute.
Modern Coast were presented with a trophy,
Sh100,000 with Green Eagles taking away a
trophy, medals and Sh50,000.
The tournament was spons-ored by Mombasa Maize
Millers Limited.
Other prizes were presented Alfred Maningi
(best player), Rayan Hamisi (best goalkeeper),
the most disciplined team Boca Juniors, top
scorer Willy Lugogo and the oldest player
Mohammed Madigi.
The match watched by
a large crowd with VIP including Mvita MP elect Abdullswamad
Nassir, Mombasa Senator elect Moha-med Faki, Majengo Ward MCA
elect Ahmed Khamis Nyundo and former Mombasa Mayor, Ahmed
Muhdhar. Mombasa Maize Millers Limited director, Ali Ahmed Ali
Basham-mah pledged to sponsor the tournament next year. |
