NAIROBI (Xinhua) --
Equity turnover at the Nairobi Securities
Exchange (NSE) was flat on Thursday at 6 million U.S. dollars on
a volume of 24 million shares from 19 million shares in previous
session as the market awaited the verdict on presidential poll
petition to be issued Friday.
Safaricom, Kenya’s
leading telecom, was the top traded stock after moving 10.3
million shares at 0.25 dollars, a decline of 3 percent.
The share was
followed by Equity Bank, Cooperative Bank, Kenya Airways and
Total which moved 3 million, 1.8 million, 1.1 million and 1
million shares respectively.
At least seven
shares, led by Safaricom, recorded a negative turn by going down
by between 1 percent and 5 percent.
The top losers
included HomeAfrika, Uchumi Supermarkets, Kenya Orchards and
leading telecom Safaricom.
Top gainers, on the
other hand, were NIC Bank and Deacons which rose by between 1
and 7 percent but their gains were little to lift the key index.

4,038.86, sustaining a negative trend registered since Tuesday.
Similarly, the NSE
