Hayer One SYL 2019 Cricket Tournament

The five day 3rd. Edition of the Prestigious The Hayer One Starfield Youth League Cricket Tournament which was mainly sponsored by the Hayer One and co-sponsored by Crown Paints Kenya Limited, Executive Health Care Solutions, MacCoffee, Muthaiga Travels and All Pack Industries with about 450 participants, 35 teams from Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Homa Bay and Uganda, played on 7 different grounds in Nairobi ended in style with grand finals on sunday at the Nairobi Gymkhana in front of a big crowd seen after a long time, reports Subhash Modi.

Results: Under 9 Winners: Buzz Pro Sports, Runner up: Star Field 'A'

Under 11 Winner - Star Field 'A', Runner up: Oshwal Academy

Under 13 Winner - Buzz Pro Sports, Runner-up: Star Field 'A'

Under 15 Winner - Swamibapa, Runner up: Nakuru Pirates

Under 19 Winner - Ruaraka Sports Club, Runner Up: Sikh Union Sports Club

Final Individual Performances:

Under 11 - Neel Doshi scores 50 not out in the final. In the tournament he also got 6 wickets

Under 13 - Ewan Van Nierkirk scored 55 runs in the final and scored 264 runs in the entire tournament.

Under 19 - Vaibhav Patil and Jasraj Kundi both scored half centuries in the final with the latter winning the tournaments MVP award as the highest run scorer and second highest wicket-taker.

Rahul Seedhar was the top batsman of the tournament.

Kalpesh Solanki the sporting supporter and official of Nairobi Gymkhana and Sikh Union also presented UK Pounds 50 to Jasraj Kundi for his batting brilliance.

According to the Match Referee of the Finals Subhash Modi, Starfield Sports Limited Management, Staff and supporting Team especially Karan Kaul, Veer Dave and Harsh Patel must be congratulated for brilliant organisation and giving wonderful cricketing opportunities to younger generation.

Coast Cricket Association under 19 Coached and Managed by Vivek Mehta and Captained by Shukan Mehta showed drastic improvement as the Coast Boys upset the champions on day one of the tournament by beating the Ruaraka Sports Club comfortably.

The superb ground work Starfield Sports have been doing for the past couple of years will be the platform for further development in cricket in Kenya.

The entire tournament was officiated by 16 umpires - Subhash Modi, David Odhiambo, Isaac Oyieko, Munir Khan, Dennis Angara, Asgar Kassam, Nicholas Otieno, Maurice Omboyo, Bernard Odumbe, Joseph Musango, Cleophas Udoyi, David Ololo, John Mariga, Elvis Ouma, Eddie Musangwa and Joshua Oyieko. Scorers for the finals were Margaret Banja and Chadwick.
