Mission of Kenya, in conjunction with the Burani and
Bahakanda communities in Kwale County will be
launching their 2nd water desalination plant at the
Al-Mahdi Muslim community Centre in Burani on
Saturday, 24 August 2019 from 9.00 a.m.

BMMK is committed to supporting the livelihood
strategies and enhancing the standards of living of
the various communities it works with in Kwale
"Whilst government and other non-government
agencies have been invited to participate in this
joyous occasion of providing safe potable drinking
water to the community, the launch will be conducted
jointly by the local community leaders, their
external supporter and local government officials.
"We shall therefore not be having a single guest
of honour but multiple guests of honour to jointly
launch the project.
"In the Miamba project, the water desalination
plant is linked to an agriculture demonstration farm
using drip farming and other modern technologies.
"At the upcoming Burani desalination plant, the
plant would be linked to a demonstration fish farm
as well as a drip irrigation scheme.
"The intention is to train the local community
and motivate students in the nearby schools to take
up modern agriculture practices for livelihood
strategies , economic and social sustainability.
"The program intends to train the community to
adopt these modern, ecologically sound organic
agricultural practices on their individual and
family landholdings in order to increase
productivity, quality value of their produce and
ensure food sustainability."
