Nairobi advocate Kamau Karori is honoured with
'Order of the Moran of the Burning Spear' award

DLA Piper Africa is pleased to announce that Kamau Karori, MBS, a Senior Partner at its Kenyan member firm, IKM Advocates, was conferred a national honour known as the Order of the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) on 12 December 2018 in recognition of his distinguished service in Kenya.

A national honour is awarded to a person who has made exemplary contribution to the country or a county in the economic, social, scientific, academic, public administration, governance, sports, journalism, business, security or other fields.

Kamau Karori, MBS has been involved in many complex and high profile cases and arbitration matters for both local and international clients, some of which involved novel issues which he helped develop jurisprudence.

He has also represented the Government of Kenya and other government agencies in a number of commercial matters both in Kenya and internationally.

Most recently he led a team of Kenyan and DLA Piper lawyers in defending the Government of Kenya against the USD 2 billion Cortec Mining arbitration claim.

Kamau Karori said: "I am greatly humbled by the President’s recognition.

"The Government of Kenya has shown real belief in Kenyan lawyers to advise on high stakes international court and arbitration matters, and this is not something I have ever taken for granted.
