Shimba Hills Defeated Real Junior to
Qualify For the ‘Taifa Chapati’ Semi’s

Coastweek -- Shimba Hills qualified for the FKF Taifa Chapati semi-finals after they drubbed Real Junior 2-1 at Mzimuni ground during the quarter final match.

Shimba drew the first blood in the Jack Athuman at quarter an hours mark.

Hussein Vuche levelled the score for Real ten minutes after resumption.

Juma Mwajao scored the winning goal for Shimba five minutes after an hour’s mark.

Meanwhile Zawama knocked out Nacet 4-3 on post-match penalties at Ukunda showground after being deadlock 1-1 during the normal regulation time.

Meanwhile, the mouth-watering other quarter finals match between Ukunda aristocrats SS Assad and defending champions Mombasa Maize Millers was abandoned in the 74th minute after Millers players walked off the pitch in protest when they conceding a second goal during a match played at Kombani ground in Kwale.

The match however lived to its billing as a thriller and was watched by one of the largest crowds in the history of the three-year-old tournament.

The match started at a cracking pace and the defending Champions went into early celebration in the through Nassir Kambu’s 3rd minute strike.

Assad hauled themselves off the canvass and restored parity in the 24th minute through their lethal striker, Abdalla Mdeka.

Trouble started in the 74th minute when Assad scored the second goal through a clinical header by their dangerman Zackaria Mwakisua who connected a cross from Salim Kanga.

A section of Millers technical bench officials led the players off the pitch protesting in infringement inside the box.

The match officials waited in vain for the visitors to resume play.

During the match, Millers fielded their star crème de la crème roaster that included Bandari midfield maestro Dennis Magige.

The FKF South Coast Branch officials who are the tournaments organizers will give a decision on the match, through the leagues and competitions committee after receipt of the referees and match commissioner’s report.
