Mozambique calls for knowledge spreading as
training course offered by Chinese experts ends

MAPUTO, (Xinhua) -- A Mozambican official urged on Friday in Maputo province the participants of a training course on agricultural production to apply and spread the knowledge learned during the training to increase food production.
Representative of the Mozambican deputy minister of agriculture and food security, Olga Faftine made the remarks on one-month course offered by Chinese experts in China-Mozambique Agricultural Demonstration Center. The course, which focused on the production technology transfer of rice, maize and vegetables, benefited some 100 extension agents from all over the country, among whom 24 are agrarian researchers.

Also served as the Director of Mozambican Agrarian Research Institute, Faftine expects each extension agent to disseminate learned technologies to farmers so that they will be able to put enough products in the market for the benefit of their families in domestic consumption and in generating income.

"This course was also an opportunity for interaction between the researchers and extension agents and for the consolidation of the teams to accelerate the dissemination of technological solutions for multiple problems faced by the farmers along the production chain," said Faftine.

The contribution of the Chinese government was referred to by the representative as a strong indicator of the good relations between the two countries.

Olivia Julio, a 29-year-old extension agent, from central Zambezia province, said that one of the key lessons that she will be taking back to the farmers in her district, is that despite limited resources in infrastructures, it is possible to maximize their small-scale production.

"I will teach them that we can use technologies and maximize production in small areas, and if t
here is successful production we can request help in mechanization material," said Olivia.
