Chinese technology giant and mobile phone maker
Huawei on Thursday launched a new smartphone Y9 2019 into the
Kenyan market backed by four 29 megapixel artificial
intelligence (AI) cameras.
Priced at 250 U.S.
dollars, the Android 8.1 operated device features four AI
cameras, two at the back and two in front and the company’s
latest mid-range processor, Hisilicon Kirin 710 that promises
better performance and efficiency compared to previous models.
“The phone seeks to
provide best experience for many young people without them
paying several times the amount it costs to own one of Huawei’s
premium smartphones,” Steven Li, Huawei Head of Eastern Africa
Mobile said during the launch in Nairobi.
“We believe that it
will be a favorite among Kenyan youth due to its favorable price
and superior features,” Li remarked.
He said the subtle
design and stylish look coupled with sleek silhouette refined
aesthetics and glossy appearance will prove timeless to the
youth as the company’s latest technology offers users
state-of-the-art gaming, audio-visual and entertainment
The gadget also came
with the 4GB RAM variant with 64GB internal storage space that
can be expanded to 400GB using a microSD card, whereas the
cameras come with some other unique features that take the whole
experience to another level.
