Newcomers Add Extra Sparkle To Africa Concours D’elegance

Coastweek-- Newcomers with cars which have not been seen before at the Nairobi Racecourse will add sparkle to the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance which is rated as the classiest event on the Kenya motorsport calendar.

This year’s edition will be the 48th in the annual series held by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and is scheduled for September 30th.

One of the first timers is Sachit Shah who has had a life long interest in cars and has entered a massive Mercedes Benz 300 d made in 1959.

This four door luxury tourer was the company’s largest and most prestigious car. During his tenure from 1949 to 1963 as the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer used six of these limousines and the car became widely known as “The Adenauer”.

The Adenauer owned by Sachit Shah is undergoing a complete rebuild under the guidance of J.P. Roquier who has a wealth of knowledge about classic and vintage machines.

Current work centers on the upholstery and the interior before progressing to the engine compartment.

Kenya export quality leather has been chosen for the seats and door panels which will be fitted in readiness for judging on September 30th.
