(Xinhua) -- China’s Nanjing Cultural and Art Troupe on
Tuesday staged a performance in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, as part
of the Chinese embassy’ commemoration of this year’s Labor Day.
The event, characterized by various
Chinese opera, music, culture and pop by various Chinese groups
based in Zambia, was welcomed by Zambia’s Minister of Tourism and
Arts Charles Banda and Charge d’Affaires at the Chinese Embassy Chen
The Zambian minister expressed
gratitude towards the bilateral ties between the two countries,
adding that the cultural cooperation was enhancing people-to-people
He said the cultural cooperation
between the two countries will go a long way in developing arts and
culture in the southern African nation as well as help people of the
two countries know the cultures of each other.
On his part, the Chinese envoy
underscored the importance of culture as it helped people learn from
He expressed delight that culture has
become an important ingredient in cementing cooperation between the
two countries, adding that the holding of the Chinese Temple Fair
each year was enough evidence on the increased cultural cooperation.
He added that the friendship between
the two countries has reached a new era over the years and that the
holding of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit later this
year will go a long way in cementing the cooperation.
