Mombasa’s Yalfa Rally Team Savors
Top Ten Finish In The Nakuru Rally !

Coastweek -- Yalfa Rally Team of Mombasa were all smiles after the season opening Top Fry Nakuru Rally last weekend, reports SAMSON ATEKA.

Mombasa crew of Ammar “Bushy” Haq and Victor Olundi ran the ex-Rajbir Rai Evolution 10 and wrapped up their Great Rift Valley drive in top 10.

“First and foremost we thank Allah for the amazing top ten finish with a new car in the 2018 season opener.

“We also thank our mechanics, our manager, family and fans for the spirited drive.

“Big up to Neil for the pre-rally assistance. Looking forward for Safari,” said Mombasa based driver Ammar.

The rally was won for the second straight year by Onkar Singh Rai of Kabras Sugar Racing.

Kenya National Rally Championship division one honors went to Jasmeet Singh Chana of CRS Team.

Kabras Sugar Racing’s Onkar Singh Rai and Gareth Dawe in a Skoda Fabia R5 emerged the winners claiming their second win in the Kenya National Rally Championship. Baldev Singh Chager and Ravi Soni came in a close second with Menengai Oil Racing’s Carl Tundo and Tim Jessop finishing 5th Overall followed by Tejveer Singh Rai and Zahir Shah in 6th position.

Eric Bengi and Tuta Mionki in their Menengai Cream branded Subaru Impreza N12 finished in the 11th position to round off the team’s performances in the Nakuru county held rally.

Ammar ‘Bushy’ Haq acquired ex-Rajbir Rai Evo10 for the weekend’s Top Fry Nakuru Rally and never disappointed.

Asked what it really feels to pilot the ex speedster’s machine, Ammar had this to say:

“It’s the first time we’re driving the Evolution X competitively and we are overly excited about it.

“We have a rough idea of how superior and powerful the Evolution X is as opposed to our previous Subaru car.

“We have tested it just once so we intend to approach this season with caution as we learn the new car while also adjusting my driving to suit its unique abilities.

“It’s too early to predict anything for now.

“But all I know is it will take some few events to come grips with the car as I learnt quite a lot in testing; so I reckon there’s quite a heap in store.

“This season will be about bringing the car home as we find our level in the division.

“We are hoping to settle in the division once we are done with the first quarter of the season.

“Our team will always be leaving nothing to chance, that should help us explore the new monster’s potential,” Ammar said.
