Beneficiaries, community members from
Mtomondoni village in Mtwapa, friends and partners came
together to remember how the area was made accessible by
its founder Ulrike Neubert and how many people were
involved to develop KWETU to its present state.
This history of how a vision became
reality was an eye opener to many young people from the
community who presented a hilarious play about old
communal values versus present exploitation of natural
resources impacting on the environment.
KWETU’s strategic plan for the next
five years was presented containing its mission ‘To
empower communities to embrace innovative strategies for
livelihoods enhancement, natural resources management
and climate change mitigation’.
The first active step to put this
mission into practice was the launch of the ‘ONE Million
Moringa Tree Campaign for Kilifi County’, a campaign the
coast will hear more about in the coming years.
