NAIROBI (Xinhua) --
All the key indices of the Nairobi Securities
Exchange (NSE) rose Wednesday, pushed up by increase in prices of at
least 17 stocks.
The NSE 20 Share Index added 27.89 points to stand at a new high of
3,129.78, while the All Share Index (NASI) was up 0.31 points to
stand at 133.81. On the other hand, the NSE 25 Share Index rose
13.01 points to stand at 3,533.00.
Barclays Bank, Safaricom, Diamond Trust Bank and Kenya Commercial
Bank are some of the stocks whose prices went up by between 0.1 and
8.3 percent.
Safaricom, Kenya’s leading telecom was the most traded stock after
moving 12.7 million shares at 0.19 dollars, a 0.3 percent increase.
The share attracted the most foreign buys and sales, with the
investors’ participation standing at 58 percent.
KenolKobil came in second with 5.2 million shares at unchanged price
of 0.12 dollars while CFC Insurance was the third best traded stock
with 3 million shares at 0.58 dollars.
Barclays Bank and Equity Bank closed the list of the best traded
stocks after moving 1.1 million and 645,100 shares respectively.
Some 25 million shares valued at 7.2 million U.S. dollars were
traded at the market, down from 28 million worth 8.5 million dollars
posted in the previous session.
