Skyward Express Limited starts Wilson-Mombasa- Lamu flights

Coastweek-- Lamu County is set to have a new air service from Mombasa commencing on March 31st, 2017 courtesy of Skyward Express Limited, reports TITUS MUSAU.

It is the first flight operation between the port city of Mombasa to Lamu in over two decades and will come as a huge relief particularly to tourists and business people.

The introductory fare Mombasa – Lamu route has been put at Ksh 5,000 one way fares.

The airline whose hub is Wilson Airport, Nairobi will be offering daily flights from Wilson to Mombasa and Lamu.

According to Skyward Express Limited Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr. Patrick Oketch, the airline will be operating a Dash8-300 type of aircraft with two daily flights.

Oketch said that they will have two daily flights to Mombasa and one to the idyllic Lamu archipelago.

“There will be a flight that leaves Wilson at 0900 hrs to Mombasa before departing for Lamu at 1130 hrs.

“There will also be a an afternoon flight that departs Wilson at 1500 hrs arriving Mombasa at 1600 hrs for a round trip back to Wilson at 1730 hrs,” Oketch said in an interview.

Skyward Express Limited has in its fleet modern Dash 8-300 series with a capacity of 50passengers Fokker 50 CRJ 200 and Fokker 100 that has a passenger capacity of100.

“For the Mombasa /Lamu service, we have set aside two standby aircrafts to support the route,”Oketch said.

The airline flies to Eldoret, Wajir, Lodwar and now Mombasa and Lamu with additional flights to Malindi.

“We are a business enterprise committed to the basic objective of providing safe, reliable and convenient air transport services for passenger and cargo as well as the provision of aviation related services including charter flights,” the airline official said.

In order to ensure efficiency and safety standards, the airline has a dedicated team of 100 engineers who do round the clock checks on the aircrafts.

Oketch said that staff at the firm possesses extensive industry experience and a profound command of pertinent methods and skills.

“Our staff attends regular trainings to meet the dynamically changing requirements of our aviation clients,” he said.

Other airlines that services Lamu include Safarilink, Jambojet and Air Kenya- all flying direct to Lamu from Wilson Airport.
