Ukunda Nacet FC Are Big Winner Of This
Season FKF South Coast Premier League

Coastweek -- Ukunda’s Nacet FC are the winners of this season’s  Football Kenya Federation (FKF) South Coast Premier League when they edged Wayzata FC from Gasi 1-0 in the final match at Ziwani Lasco ground in Mombasa.

The final game involving Kwale County teams saw them going at half time gaolless. In the first half, Wayzata had more opportunity to win it but their forwards missed a number of scoring opportunities.

Wayzata strikers Ali Juma, Mbwana Kassim and Kassim Juma had golden chances to give their team the lead but fumbled whennear their opponents goal area.

In the last 45 minutes, Nacet put up a fine show and got their lone goal in the 64th minute through Mkarakara Noor who dribbled past two Wayzat defenders and placed the ball into an empty net with goalkeeper well beaten.

Nacet’s win enabled them to get an automatic promotion to the National Division One League next season. FKF South Coast branch has pledged to pay for Nacet the required Sh55,000 participation fee for the new league they will take part.

For being the new South Coast branch club champions, Nacet were awarded a trophy and Sh20,000 with Wayzata getting a trophy and Sh10,000.

FKF South Coast branch chairman, Gabriel Mghendi said his branch will hold talks with Kwale County government officials the possibility of sponsoring Nacet and two other clubs from the county- Supa Matuga and SS Assad.

“We are thankful to Kwale County government for supporting Nacet during their participation in the Coast Mini-league and we have high hopes they are to continue to help the club during its participation in the National Division One League,” said Mghendi.

Mghendi also thanked Mombasa County for helping the teams featuring for the national leagues with transport and asked them to sponsor the teams more so that they can be able to complete and play their away matches.

Some of the Coast clubs failed to honour their away games due to lack of funds.

“We hope this time, Mombasa County will sponsor the clubs fully,” said Mghendi who pledged to talk to Mombasa governor and sports department officials about the issue.

At the same time, the FKF South Coast branch boss said he has started negotiating with three companies which he refused to name about the possibility of sponsoring next season’s South Coast League.
