Zambia’s communication and technology regulator
said Friday that it has almost finalized the development of an
online platform meant for reporting Internet-related child
The Zambia Information and Communications
Technology Authority (ZICTA) said it was almost finalizing the .zm
Search Portal, which would allow and enable children, parents
and guardians to report child rights violations such as cyber
bullying and pornography.
Hanford Chaaba, the regulator’s public relations officer, was
quoted saying by the Times of Zambia as saying such child abuses
were becoming rampant in Zambia.
The regulator, he said, would soon sign a memorandum of
understanding with mobile phone service operators to ensure that
they were mindful of children’s rights as they developed mobile
phone content such as promotional messages.
