Nyali MP Hon. Hezron Awiti Launches CDF Cup at Frere Town

Coastweek -- Nyali MP, Hon. Hezron Awiti has launched a project of engaging his area youths to take part in sport activities.

Speaking during the launching of the Nyali Community Development Fund (CDF) Cup at Frere Town ground, Mr. Awiti said the project is aimed at refraining the youth from involving themselves in radicalisation and drug abuse.

“If we keep our youth by involving them in various sport activities, I’m sure we will help many and have a big number of them abstain from engaging in crime related activities,” said Mr. Awiti.

Mr. Awiti popularly known as ‘Jobo Jobo” asked the youth within his area and Mombasa at large to take keen interest in sports to help them go further in pursuing their talents which can be a source of income to them.

“We want many of our youth to be signed by top SportPesa Premier League clubs and European top clubs including Manchester United, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among many others,” said Awiti who has declared interest to vie for the Mombasa governorship in next year’s general election.

Kongowea MCA, Jabes Oduor thanked Awiti for knowing the importance of sports for the youths and ladies. He said other sports expected to be organised by the Nyali CDF include netball, ladies soccer and draft among many others.
